This has for some reason always been a burden for me; Choosing the right email program for Windows. On the Mac I use the trusty Mail but on Windows, I never had luck. I did give Thunderbird a go but for some reason I never got along with it. I guess the set up just got too complicated and that kinda put me off. After looking around and trying out numerous alternatives I finally came across Windows Live Mail.
Windows Live Mail lets you add multiple e-mail accounts in one program – Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo! and more. Windows Live Mail has a calendar, too. Mail combines the ease of use of Outlook Express, with the speed of Windows Live.
To get started download the installation file from this link; Download
Follow the steps and choose what Windows Live programs you want to install along with Mail (You can just install Mail if you want to).
The installation might take a while depending on your computer and your connection. Just be patient
Once the whole installation is done just launch;
You’ll now be presented with a window asking for your email details. Fill them in like so and click next;
Note: You can manually configure the server settings if you have a custom address or just need to.
Next you’ll be presented with the folders within your email account. Just choose the one you’d like to show. For most cases your Inbox will do fine.
That should be all. Your email messages will be downloaded. From now on every time you open Windows Live Mail new messages will be downloaded automatically.
This program is very easy to use and manage. Now you can stay on top of your emails and never have someone complain again about that email that hasn’t been replied to yet.
This is also great for managing multiple accounts. You might have your own domain with your personalised email accounts. This will help put all your mail in one place.
